For four straight Mondays, tech billionaire Peter Thiel convened a private series in the heart of Silicon Valley on his obsession with the Antichrist. This peculiar and troubling theological fixation is not just eccentric—it reveals how his version of political theology and apocalyptic imagination are shaping the worldview of some of the most powerful people in the world. Thiel is after all the major donor to US Vice President JD Vance and his company Palantir is providing surveillance to ICE and the Pentagon. What does it mean that he is preaching about armageddon and the antichrist and isn’t a counterpoint in order?

What does it mean that he is preaching about armageddon and the antichrist? Isn’t a counterpoint in order?

We cannot remain silent.

This two-session series, featuring Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox and Gil Duran, offers a powerful counter-narrative rooted in wisdom, justice, and authentic spirituality. Drawing on his recent book, Trump and the MAGA Movement as Antichrist, Fox explores the archetype of Christ and Antichrist as it plays out in our world today but also in artists of old. He draws from the teachings of Jesus and Hildegard of Bingen, Meister Eckhart, Carl Jung, and other mystics and visionaries, illuminating the stark contrast between life-giving and life-destroying spiritual energies.

Together we ask: What would Jesus say? What does this obsession with the Antichrist reveal about the rise of Christian nationalism, and the imaginations of billionaire leaders who hold their peculiar visions for humanity’s future? And how can we respond with courage, clarity, and vision?

Session 1 – Peter Thiel and the Antichrist: What Would Jesus Say?

Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox explores the archetype of the Antichrist in light of his book Trump and the MAGA Movement as Antichrist, offering a spiritual lens for understanding Thiel’s fixation. Drawing on Jung, Hildegard, Eckhart, artist Luca Signorelli and others, Fox unpacks how these archetypal energies manifest in our current political and cultural moment.

Session 2 – Billionaires, Political Theology, and the Future of Our Democracy

Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox welcomes journalist Gil Duran to explore together how a peculiar and perverse political theology is shaping the imaginations of tech billionaires and what this means for our shared future. The conversation examines the dangerous intersections of wealth, power, and distorted spirituality—and what alternatives we can cultivate.

Why This Matters

We live at a moment when a political theology of so-called christian nationalism is not confined to seminaries or pulpits—it’s shaping the decisions of billionaires, politicians, and movements that impact all of us. This is a call to awaken, to question, and to ground ourselves in a deeper spiritual vision.
