I stumbled into public theology before I knew it existed! In some ways, I was baptized into public theology through a Time Magazine article that “outed” me as a person with something to say in public, followed up by a CNN interview with Larry King.

Like a lot of pastors, before that, I was pretty focused on my little church - and on the work of my fellow pastors inside their churches. After that, I had a new set of enemies in the church who didn’t like what I was saying - along with a new set of friends outside the church who did like what I was saying.
